Nothing could be plainer than a brick, a baked slab of clay mud. But that same mud is also the basis for elaborate flowered decoration. For that matter, in the Hebrew story of Genesis it is the material from which human beings are made.

I consider Plaster of Paris a natural form that can be used to build an image. During university days, I learned how to make a plasticine clay mold, then pour the white liquid Plaster of Paris into it and . when hardened and removed from the mold, make into a bust of a woman’s head which I admire. I portrayed the head and neck as a calm, serene woman with her facial features well delineated and her hair tied in a lovely bun at the back. She will be mounted with the lower supporting metal rod base placed into a naturally polished wood cube to be observed in her serenity.
