Any writer knows that editing is a crucial part of the process—it’s pretty much unheard of for anything to flow from the brain to page fully-formed and perfect, without so much as a typo. Taking the time to polish and hone our work is an act of dedication and caring. Also, when someone else, unasked, takes a metaphorical red pencil to our work it is annoying as all get out.
