Many Stones

Each stone on a beach or in a riverbed is unique, no two alike. But, in the end, they’re not that different, either. You are unique and precious—but no more unique and precious than any of the billions of other people in the world.

How will you stand out in the crowd? How will you help someone else be noticed?

  1. For better or worse, I do stand out in a crowd: by engaging in discussions about politics and religion which my small redneck town disapproves of; by filing a complaint against the local museum for not faciitating handicap access to its new building; getting the Town Council in an uproar by telling it to stop starting government meetings with Christian prayers; being the only Democratic leader in an 80% Republican town; editing the art club newsletter so that all the members depend on me to publicize their work. Wow! Most of this gets a lot of hate headed my way. Everyone would prefer I was one among many stones. Why can’t I just do that?? Clearly I need analysis!
