As a Religious Naturalist, I am amazed that we humans, made up of stardust and the product of billions of years of evolution, are actually the universe finally being able to look back on itself and contemplate its own existence. That places us in a position of responsibility and connection that was otherwise unknown before our arrival on the planet. I am grateful for this unique opportunity and I am trying to spend my brief time here wisely as I marvel at the wonder of creation.
Distance. The concept of “light years” is beyond me. I visit a website called Astronomy Photo of the Day every morning and the material I see there gives me such a huge sense of awe.
