“A vision we give to others of who and what they could become has power when it echoes what the spirit has already spoken into their souls.”
― Larry Crabb
Who will you support with a vision of what they could become?

My son, of course!
This entry is particularly poignant for me. I do this regularly for people I know and care about: I reflect to them their own strengths, and open possibilities for successes using those unique gifts and strengths. I have found quite often that this is NOT well received – many people don’t want to hear what they COULD be doing, and doing well. I presume this is because suddenly the onus is on them to make the choice to take action and follow through. I suppose many would rather live with the idea that their sense of personal failure and unhappiness is due to circumstances beyond their control, rather than having to shoulder the burden for one’s own happiness.
I continue to shine light on possibility where I see it. Despite the overall poor response I get, I know it’s the right thing to do. I hold out hope that even if I get a negative response in the moment, perhaps a seed is planted for the future – next week, next year, next decade.
