Do you ever feel adrift, untethered, as if the very gravity that holds you to the familiar has somehow let go? Of course the experience is terrifying, but the view from that dangerous place can be amazing, giving you a whole new perspective on your world.
What familiar thing might you let go of in order to gain a different view of your life?
Right now I am thinking of changing career strategies.
I would like to let go of a some of the material possessions I have acquired over my lifetime. Nowadays, I find myself longing for a simpler life. I have learned that owning too many “things” can weigh you down and the hunt was far more exciting than actually owning most of these items. In some ways, my possessions have come to own me, almost as much as I own them. I often think that letting go of some excess baggage would be a blessing at this point in my life. I think it would ultimately provide me with the freedom to enjoy the things that really matter the most.
Isn’t it ironic how, in the general scheme of things, “weight” provides “grounding”, helping us stay tethered, so that we can then find our direction; when in fact, “weight” or “stuff” grounds us so much that we can no longer move, thereby preventing us from having the freedom to explore and find our paths.
