“Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam,” says the song, without ever noting that the buffalo themselves are roaming, not fixed to any one idea of where home might be. Sometimes home is less of a place than an experience or a group of fellow travelers.
What makes you feel at home?
Being with my family. “Home is wherever I’m with you.” — Edward Sharpe
Being someplace where I am accepted and respected.
I have an old fashioned toy stove (about 6″ high) with a music box inside that plays ‘Home On the Range”. I keep it on the back of my slick modern range. I got it from my mom when I was about 40! I play it sometimes while cooking, & I’m home with mom, even though she’s been gone a long time. It was a funny joke gift at the time, but has turned into a great remembrance of her, & my many different homes.
