Nutritionists tell us that it’s healthy to eat fruits and vegetables that are a wide variety of colors. It’s probably also healthy for us to enjoy the pleasure of seeing many colors in flowers, fabrics, paintings and people.
In what ways and places do you get the most pleasure from colors?
Long about this time of the year here in northern Michigan, USA, my eyes are hungry for color, since all around us outdoors is white and grey. I wear bright colors, force brightly colored flower bulbs, and try to visit an art museum to see intensely colored paintings.
I get absolute joy from seeing a beautiful sunset.
When I hike or snowshoe outside, I see a great variety of colors. This is why working out in a gym typically bores me.
My colors start after Christmas when the traditional gifting of Amaryllis bulbs grow and burst into gorgeous colors from reds, pinks, yellow throats, white ones and peach ones too. I am still forcing new colors I haven’t seen before, so this will be very exciting and happy making! I am fortunate to have daffodils and quince in bloom outside too. Hoping the camellias that are hiding in the interior of the shrub will withstand our low 20’s the next few days!
Forcing a crazy new batch of Amaryllis bulbs in the living room. Each year momma and I trade amaryllis bulbs at Christmas. This year. I was able to have 6to keep in the fridge until recently potted and now await the new mystery colors to bloom over the next month! Also, my gardens are smiling with daffodils and quince, and the bromeliads wintering in the garage are blooming too, love their blues, pinks and greens…
OOPS! My touch was quicker than I could tell, sorry for the double entries.
