Happy Mother’s Day—not only to all the mothers, but also to all the people who aren’t mothers, but who protect life or nurture creation, who teach or comfort or challenge the young.

As Lynn says there are many who mother without being literally. A young friend called hers “Other Mother”. As an Other Mother, I honor all the rest of us…and the literal mothers, too.
I made it to church last Sunday and I moved a smooth stone in memory of my Mother-in-law, Gertrude Mary Hudson (1912 – 2005.) She was one of the most sensible, industrious, and focused people I knew.
