Mardi Gras

Exif_JPEG_PICTUREFor just a moment, let’s turn the world upside down, make kings and queens of the lowly, dance in the street and declare a party to which everyone is invited. Maybe over Lent we can contemplate how we could make that world live for more than a moment.

What would you give up in order to make a place for everyone at the party?

  1. I’m trying to give up my need to be right. It’s hard.

I’ve taken a few tentative steps to reach out to others who may be lonely or otherwise in need of support. This is also really hard for me as it means giving up some of what little sense of security I have (I struggle with intense chronic anxiety, including social anxiety).

  2. If I could, I’d give up my smile to someone else in the hope that it would enable that person to look happy and eager to have fun at the party. Then I would hope that others would see the smile and for even just this party time, everyone there would smile back at the person who has the new smile!
