The Dalai Lama is revered around the world as a great spiritual teacher. But sometimes spiritual insights come from surprising places, like the look in the great, round eyes of a llama.
Who or what has been a surprising spiritual teacher for you?

I can’t answer the question as posed because I have never been clear what exactly it means to be spiritual in a naturalistic sense. Any comments or suggestions will be welcomed.
Charlie, I’m no expert on this subject and even though the natural world inspires me in a spiritual way, I do choose to find the meeting of minds between or among people to be a spiritual experience that I relish. Just even a tiny bit of what appears to be mutual understanding or agreement between two or a committee of people gives me a big lift.
Thank you for sharing. I’m still searching and learning, so you thoughts help me find my way.
I rely on the world around me for my sense of amazement about all of the existing components of nature as well as the accomplishments of the human race. When I stop and consider that pioneers trod the same soil as I, in rain, snow, desperation, attacks, and other unbelievable sufferings, I am amazed that I can drive through a blinding rainstorm in comfort, that I can easily find food wherever I want, that I can fly from the Midwest to either coast in hours, that I can take a pill and survive illness, I know that what I have learned during my life time has inspired me to believe that humankind will learn from the past and make decisions for a new unbelievable future.
Ditto!
