Make New Mistakes

oops-1So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
—Neil Gaiman

What new mistake are you willing to undertake?

  1. Regarding new mistakes – there is a term used by people who invest money – “risk tolerance.” It seems to me that we don’t know when we venture out whether we will make a mistake or not – in a sense any new endeavor is a risk, but one we deem worth the effort – of course nothing is risk free. Another thing we learn by in “risking” a venture is the benefit of trial and error – refining experiences.. Here’s to venturesomeness! Give it a whirl!

  2. I’ve always said “If you’re afraid to get lost, you won’t see much!” Perhaps this is true but as Warren says, “Venture out!” At this particular time of my life, I am spending time and money (a helper) to sort my art (paintings primarily) and whether much of it is then sold or gifted, who knows? I am enjoying being nostalgic but whether the time and $$ spent are worth it or not will prove to be seen. When it’s time to move on in life, that’s also the risk that this kind of activity will have a surprise or even unpleasant ending.
