Yoda, I am not. Reincarnated, he wasn’t. Means this that you are not warrior?
When has an animal been your spiritual teacher?

As a young girl, I “won” a dog who received the name Freckles. He was my companion for many years Since I was an only child, that meant a lot to me. He,aging, was finally a resident at my parents’ home until he died. blind, hit by a car coming down the street where he had wandered. I have so many good memories of him; I can almost hear him barking right now!
I had a dog named Drifter. Until the last week of his life, he was a very happy dog. There were many things he was thrilled about, including food, walks, people (including strangers and vets), bones, ice, and car rides – and he showed his enthusiast approval. There were a few things he disliked (rain, baths, swimming, and really hot weather), but he moved on emotionally and was back to his chipper self the minute he stopped being exposed to them. He assumed everyone would love him if he just said hello (and he was usually right).
I tend to see the negative aspects of life more than the positive ones, tend to feel depressed and anxious, and have difficulties with social situations. When I was with him, though, his happiness rubbed off a little. He got me to smile more often. He gave me courage in social situations. He proved to me that I could love and be loved in return.
Martin, I think you expressed your deep feelings so well in this comment. Yes, our dogs CAN be very close and comforting companions. It is nice to hear of the support you received from Drifter. I suspect he had some of the same feeling for you.
