“Oh, you weak, beautiful people who give up with such grace. What you need is someone to take hold of you—gently, with love, and hand your life back to you.”
—Tennessee Williams
Who has handed your life back to you?

Perhaps the person who was able to help me see a positive future most clearly was my mentor during the time I was completing a second degree at the university in art education. I had already finished one in art, but needed a job to put into practice my continuing interest in the field. Maud Ellsworth, a strong believer in the innate creativity of children (and everyone) supported me in completing these studies and practice teaching so that I would spend a significant part of my life working as an elementary art consultant in a small community in Kansas. The job fit me perfectly; I enjoyed those days more than any before and, in some respect, they still affect me positively. I believe she knew what lay ahead for me in that position and was able to help me achieve a significant part of my life’s joys.
