“Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace.”
—May Sarton
What works as an instrument of grace for you?

Besides gardening – oh, yes! – there is so much to see and hear and smell out here on our small farm with a 360 degree view of the horizon. Glorious sunrises and sunsets, birds swooping and turning and enjoying our bird feeders. Sitting quietly on the back porch in the evening with a purring cat on my lap. Watching the seasons pass, as each brings its own version of change and wonder.
Music is the grace in life I am most grateful for. I often think of the music produced by nature; the flowing streams, the scratching of branches together; the soft wind breezing. Al of it l can be reproduced or used as inspiration in composing music for us. I lose myself in a stirring symphony; I calm myself with a simple piano solo. What would the world be without music that we have made from any or every source? I am glad that I can hear it all.
