When I accepted a job as a state wide consultant with our State Library, I knew that I’d be jumping into a situation where most of the youth librarians I’d be working with had many more years of experience than I did. So, when I accepted the job, I wondered how I could be of help in relationship to their previous work. I couldn’t have been more mistaken; they accepted me, encouraged and helped me and I found that we could all be in a cooperative situation; they with their experience and I with the opportunity and support of the State Library to open up opportunities for them in their own libraries. It was a wonderful eighteen years that still gives me courage and enthusiasm to remind me of how it is possible to develop positive relationships.
