I prefer to try to keep an open heart during the whole year. I do not reserve this holiday season for giving . Even if I receive gifts from others, I do not feel obligated to return the favor. I appreciate that others want to “gift” me but I consider that in other ways and at other times I will celebrate honoring those whom I choose to do so. Giving gifts to others and choosing to try to think of something to give someone a thing that doesn’t fit the situation seems to me to be impractical. When I think of something or see something that I think is truly something that another needs or will enjoy, that’s when I practice giving.
