The distorted mirrors of a fun house reflect our images back to us in a bizarre variety of ways—taller, shorter, fatter, thinner, even shattered into thousands of fragments. It turns out that the many ways others see us—and even more so the ways that we imagine others see us—provide an even more distorted set of images than a fun house.
What helps you stay focused on an image of yourself that feels true?
In the spirit of “fun house mirror” as to how we might maintain an image of ourselves that feels true, there are times when we simply have to laugh at our ‘selves’. Sometimes it can be the sheer perversity of happenstance, getting our tongue tangled, assumptions that are totally askew, items misplaced, etc. All part of the human condition? Humorous? True enough.
