We judge books by their covers all the time. We also judge people based on a variety of factors like size, age and color that tell us remarkably little about the person inside.
What helps you to look beyond the surface of the people you meet?

I have often been wrong by judging people by appearance. Now I listen to what people say and notice if their lives back up what they claim to believe. Talk is cheap. Appearance is deceptive.
Characteristics such as:
#1# Personality type(s)
#2# Career/ Job Description
#3# Nationality
#4# Condition(s) and Situation(s)
#5# Place(s) of Residence
It would still seem to me that truly, at first, I judge a person by the “cover” they wear. By that I include the style of clothing, the apparent healthfulness in their physical appearance and also their neatness in body. Regardless of other factors, I believe these are universal features. However, I try to understand that because of circumstances, some people are unable to appear in these ways. A homeless person, for instance, may reflect this lack by necessity. However, I try, regardless of “cover”, to establish an understanding of them by vocal means; talking for while may open the door to understanding, even though it may take time and opportunity to carry this on long enough to do this.
