“One may say the eternal mystery of the world is its comprehensibility.”

I recently read an article that describes the mental capacity of the octopus species. They can recognize a certain person; they can escape a watery enclosure by squeezing out of any place where their beak (a small part of their body) can move. The article introduced the idea that there may be more intelligence in certain other animals than we have realized and offered the question as to whether we should eat their species. Responses of readers were mixed in their reactions. I am mystified at this point about our relationship with other species as we learn more about their intelligence as related to ours.
