For happiness one needs security, but joy can spring like a flower even from the cliffs of despair.
–Anne Morrow Lindbergh
What joy have you found springing from the cliffs of despair?

Anne Lindbergh had reason to say this since their baby was stolen from their home one night and did not live because of it. I remember the newspaper “extras” that were being sold in the streets. I do not remember such a critical time in my own life although I certainly must have entertained such events. Perhaps I have decided to forget them but at times things remembered, not always happy, do come to the surface in my thinking. That must be the way I have coped.
