There’s a well-known story of the cracked pot which feels bad for losing water all along the path back from the river where it was filled. But it turns out that, unbeknownst to the flawed pot, it has been watering wildflowers all along the way.
What do you nurture without ever really trying to?
I seem to be one (of others) to whom people come with questions about “this and that” at the UU fellowship where I attend. I have served in various capacities since the birth of our group about 12 years ago. Right now I am music director and also co-chair of the art committee. Since I’m a charter member, I suppose that’s a reason why some others think I have the answer to their questions. I answer when I can; I refer to others when I can’t. Isn’t it that way in most community groups? I believe so and think that it’s very likely this supports the nurture of the group to become bigger and better.
