Infant primates—whether human or gorilla—are born with a reflex that makes them grasp on to whatever comes to their hands. Holding on is part of who we are from the very beginning. Letting go takes a whole lot of practice.
How are you learning to hold on or let go?
The two (holding on and letting go) work in tandem: holding on to what I can both mentally and physically do with the body I have been given is still important to me: letting go of the qualities that I know are fading away as well as evaluating what I should retain for myself as well as for other people and things around me is also important. I hope that I will be able to understand how to balance the two so that eventually I can say “Job well done!”
