Open to visitors. Open to the sun and air. Open to the view. Open to creativity. Open to possibility.
How do you cultivate a stance of openness?

Thankfully, when I was in colleges and universities at the beginning of my career, I learned not only facts and figures (as well as some knowledge) but also manners and courteous ways that have stood me in good stead. We were required to practice these ways in somewhat artificial ways but I know now that in many situations, it is the courteous thing to do in a gathering to confidently but not aggressively introduce myself to strangers. Then if the conversation continues, I offer a short bit of interest of mine and then ask about an interest of the other person. It’s magic, sometimes!
