Hatched

chicks_hatching“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.”
—C. S. Lewis

How do you see yourself being hatched?

  1. Perhaps just as the small chick that will emerge from the egg is always evolving throughout it’s life – we too, are always evolving, both in our identities of ourselves, our thoughts, and our spirituality.

  2. Our theme at the UU fellowship for this month is AWAKENING. The sermon this morning addressed what Thomas is suggesting . Awakening to something different or a change does not just always happen as a “lightbulb moment”. It can and perhaps should be an evolving, developing way to arrive at one’s own belief system of how to live life. I find that I force myself sometimes to accept that I must investigate an idea that I have held for a while to see if I still use it as part of my credo or whether I need to let it go for another. It sometimes shatters a former belief.
