There is only here. There is only now. There is only this ball. Only. This. Ball.
What helps you to stay focused in the present moment?

To focus is very likely the most difficult aspect of retirement years for me. Some others I know have planned a rather predictable plan and profit or gain satisfaction from this method. On the other hand, letting time flow by and opportunities flood into one’s life more randomly can be the other kind of pattern. This can be satisfying and very exciting! However, as time progresses, it will usually be balanced with the thoughts of end of life approaching and focusing on what time will bring before then makes focusing much more difficult. I try as far as I can to focus on the present and make it count for me but living in the present is quite difficult for me. However, I am conscious of this and try continually to appreciate and enjoy each moment.
I stay focused I suppose by breaking tasks/projects into smaller steps that allow me regular opportunities to step back and admire my results. It’s so satisfying for me, I always tend to have projects ongoing. But even on days without tangible progress, it’s still helpful to take those “big picture” moments, to make sure my focus is on what is worthwhile.
PS. What a cute dog! I’ve been wishing we could get a dog just like this for my kids, hoping we can afford it this year.
Thanks, Allisandra, your advice to break things down into smaller sections in order to reach a goal has given me encouragement.
