A pinky swear, a handshake sealed in spit, even a blood oath—from childhood we know that some commitments are special, and deserve to be marked with a special ritual.
What ritual of covenant have you participated in?

I was kind of a loner as a youth. I never did any of these “childish things”!!?? However, I remember several times when I was part of one of two methods to cement an agreement: (1) a firm handshake or (2) a strong hug. This depended on the recipient of course. It’s interesting, now that I think of it: we use physical informal physical actions to cement an agreement; it’s been a custom, I understand, that has legal implications from eons ago. Of course there’s always the required signature in formal occasions.
