We enter into formal agreements by signing our names. Just that very act of declaring ourselves, putting the symbol of our self on paper, declares that we are trustworthy and prepared to commit.

It was a big deal to sign my name when getting married, buying our home, having our children, burying our parents.
It has been important to me to sign the papers prepaying for my cremation and arrangements for its placement along with a few other details that I would wish for. Facing the transformation of what is now “me” into another type of substance has been something to think about before and after signing.
