White Water

For a river rafter or kayaker, white water is the dangerous part of the river, the place that threatens to throw them overboard to hazards of bone-breaking rocks and even drowning. The white water, of course, is the whole reason they go out on the river to begin with.

  1. I’ve inherited a role as “grandmother” due to a friendship with the son of earlier friends who were here 30 years ago studying as foreign students from Nigeria. Their son, born here, is here now, a citizen and strongly wants to work and live here. Although I’ve lived a rather solo life, my support of him is needed and, although I’m missing out on some of my other aspirations in life, I’ve decided that this is my chance to make a difference in his life. Here’s hoping that he will succeed.
