Resting on Air

Albatrosses ride the wind for vast distances, staying aloft for most of the year. They manage this amazing feat not by the strength of their giant wings, but rather by their ability to find and remain in air currents that will carry them where they wish to go. They relax into the place where they need to be, and allow themselves to be carried.

When have you experienced that sense of being able to relax into the current of your life?

  1. At one point in my life, I was employed as an elementary art consultant in a small Midwestern town for a number of years. I chose to go there after an episode when I was in another state in a community not to my liking. Having training in art and an interest in it personally, I found myself stabilized within the community and my work there, which included pubic school advising with teachers and opportunities for exciting ongoing art projects with students ages from kindergarten through 6th grade. The cooperation with teachers and school administration encouraged me to give to the students all I could in valuing the process of artistic endeavors. When I have returned to visit, I still run into former students who say, :Ms B…”I am doing…such and so art… because of what we did in school”. How rewarding can that be? Very……
