Eid al Adha

The “Feast of the Sacrifice” is the most important holiday of the year in Islam. While we might honor sacrifices made by soldiers or first responders, Western culture tends to promote “having it all” rather than the choice to give up things that matter for a larger purpose.

What is the biggest sacrifice you have made for the sake of something beyond yourself

  1. It came naturally to me that when my mother was aging and moved to the city in which I live, that I recognized almost intuitively, that I would do all that I could to keep her at home with others to help care and I myself to care for her. She lived to the age of 100 and I, of course, missed her when she died but I felt a sense of extreme satisfaction that we had been able to accomplish that. The methods that I learned to care for a dying person, when I look back, astound me now when I think of those days.
