Impassable

There comes a point at which the way forward seems simply impossible. The obstacles are too great, and the way too hard. You can definitely make camp and prepare for the way ahead, but at some point there is no other choice but to step forward.

What have you gotten through that felt impossible at the time?

  1. This question brings to mind my long term relationship with my friend, Will. We enjoyed 10 years of adventures and togetherness with very few complications since many things in this kind of relationship don’t matter much. We never married but spent considerable time together. The downside of this story is that as he slowly (at first) coped with his advancing Parkinson’s Disease. As it grew, I had more and more concerns about how we could continue together since he was resolute in his actions which I viewed as dangerous. We did speak together about how much assistance he wanted from me, and I honored that. The other aspect was that his family, although we were involved in social events with them, were, of course, the main people responsible for his care, and I worried about “what would they do”. It all worked out in the end and I have good memories.
