We know that we are vulnerable to the elements—to earth and air and water and sky. But we would do well to remember that are made up of the elements, and will return to them in the end. Any protection from the elements we devise is temporary at best.
How do you make yourself vulnerable to the elements?
Perhaps the answer is to a question that asks “How do I NOT make myself vulnerable to the elements?” In our modern lives, we spend a lot of time sheltering ourselves, with housing, clothing, etc. However, some of the most memorable times for me include those in which I enjoyed being directly out in a rain storm, walking to my destination and seeing how raindrops widen into concentric circles as they fall on the sidewalk. Beautiful! I have trudged through snow with my camera to take shots of unbelievable strange but lovely shapes that have formed here and there during a fierce snowstorm. My answer, then, is enjoying the beauty to be found so I make myself vulnerable by looking for it when it happens.
