A Light Inside the Stone

It is all too easy these days to feel our hearts turning to stone under the weight of disappointment, sorrow and cynicism. Yet somewhere inside the stone a light of hope or joy or faith still glows, ready to shine.

What helps you access your inner flame when your heart has turned stony?

  1. The passage of time helps; I sometimes wait with patience. The heat of the incident simmers but then with time and a feeling that it doesn’t matter THAT much comes around. The length of time for that to happen varies, but I can “calm” down in a while. If that doesn’t happen, I will usually find a listening friend or counselor and try to solve the problem that way. I don’t like for a bad heart to stay with me.
