Of course, there is no bad day for giving thanks, counting the many blessings of our lives. But the season of harvest is a particularly good time to be grateful for those things that have come to fruition, celebrating not just our labors in planting and tending but even more the grace that allows things to grow.
What harvest do you celebrate at this point in your life?
I truly believe that I have accumulated some wisdom during my 90 years of living. I say this in humbleness since this does not mean that I’m a “know it all”. I certainly still learn new things, am curious and try to listen to others’ opinions and ideas. However, although all of my judgments ae not correct, I find that there are times when they seem to be appropriate and helpful. Age can give us this advantage and it seems to be that the greatest wisdom is in using it.
Tonight I got to enjoy the harvest of great people my family has met and brought into the fold, at least for this one day. We had my sister’s friends over, and our family has grown with 2 marriages in the last year-and-a-half. It makes for a lively crowd.
