“One must be poor to know the luxury of giving.”
―George Eliot
What have you learned about giving from being poor?
One thought on “The Luxury of Giving”
Once, as a Peace Corps volunteer in Peru, I decided to visit an acquaintance who had invited me to drop by her family home sometime. When I arrived unannounced, she and her parents were seated having their meal. Immediately, I was served some of the same warm soup they were having. My dish contained the flavored broth and three grains of rice; no apologies were needed and we had a comfortable and friendly conversation together. I learned about the generous giving of what they had to offer that day.
