“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.”
―Desmond Tutu
When have you found it wise to remain neutral? When have you given up neutrality in favor of justice?

I avoid political subjects with certain dearly loved family members because I hope there will come a time when we can discuss them calmly and both be receptive to really listening and considering each other’s views. But if I try to force such a conversation now, and only drive a wedge between the relative and myself, there may never come such a day.
Until the 2016 election, I had also avoided politics in the training courses I teach about consensus building and communication. Ditto my professional writing . I wanted to teach as many people of all political and religious persuasions the consensus building skills.
But after the 2016 election, with reports of 45 using Mein Kampf for inspiration, floating ideas such as nationalizing all the local police forces, and trying to exclude from press conferences any journalists who reported negatively on him, I decided trying to reach a few more neo-con clients and readers would take too long with too low chances of success. I got more politically specific in my blog so as to better help left-leaners, and more importantly, the vast moderate middle that they could communicate in ways that would maximize success yet minimize the gap between them and neo-cons.
I’m not sure if I’ve shared these before, but I have a longer blog article and a link to audio of me speaking about this at a UU fellowship, if anybody wants them.
A difficulty for me in supporting social justice issues is having enough background by which I’ll determine how of support. In this day and age. there is much non information flowing through the world, l learned a long time ago in high school that it is important to scour articles etc. to find what my own decision would be, I believe that it is nore comlicated now, with electronic info running here and there. However, as with any medium of informtion it can be checked out. I still look for the “primartr souce” and try to verify it to my satisication,
