“I am glad I will not be young in a future without wilderness.” —Aldo Leopold
What lost part of the natural world do you grieve?
One thought on “Without Wilderness”
I miss sitting, walking, lookioig at and smelling newly cut green GRASS. As a child, it seemed so natural to me to walk barefooted in it; I always was happy after the grass had been mowed, someone using a push machiner that had its purring, start and stop sound. Today, there are millions of yards that have been de- pesticided, mowed furiously with a power mower and very rarely sat upon or spread eagle like on the carpet of grass. Modernity sometimes erases things that should still be alive and well!
