So often our hope is founded in impatience—we know what we want, and we can’t wait for it to get here. But as often as not, what we hope for is not what we actually want, and almost always our timeline and the world’s are out of sync.
What are you waiting for?
Uncertain situations provoke anxiety – which is what seems to happen for me. Obsessing about the outcome rarely makes things happen any sooner, it actually makes outcomes seem longer. A light word was offered by a doctor about to insert a needle into a joint for pain relief. Told to remain “very still” I asked, “What if I get a cramp?” He replied with a smile – as he inserted the needle, “Maybe you won’t) This witty response has provided me endless amusements in worrying about things which seem to take longer than I prefer. Better yet, like the shot, maybe it will turn out well.
