Carnaval

In Cadiz, Spain, the weeks of Carnaval, before the beginning of Lent, feature roving groups of wildly-costumed street performers who compete as they irreverently poke fun at the problems of society. In doing so, they address imbalances of power and inspire people to create change.

  1. I remember when people dressed as salmon ran the Bay to Breakers race backwards from the ending point, as if swimming upstream.
    Another demonstration (Abalone Alliance?) had people dressed as radioactive mutated forms of sea life.
    Enlightened!
