Abundance

“Without poverty of spirit there can be no abundance of God.” -Archbishop Óscar Romero, priest and liberation theologian from El Salvador.

Liberation theologians begin with the understanding that God favors the oppressed, and that the holy is present with and for the poor.

What has allowed you to know an abundant love at work in the universe?

Art

“The role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistible.” -Toni Cade Bambara.

When I feel insecure about what I have to offer, this reminds me, that writing, listening, reading are revolutionary acts, and no one owns the patent for activism. We need people everywhere who are willing to fight. I feel grateful and sustained by creativity like poetry and music that act as soothing waters. -Lecretia Williams (CLF)

Organizing

“Organizing takes humility and selflessness and patience and rhythm while our ultimate goal of liberation will take many expert components. Some of us build and fight for land, healthy bodies, healthy relationships, clean air, water, homes, safety, dignity, and humanizing education. Others of us fight for food and political prisoners and abolition and environmental justice. Our work is intersectional and multifaceted. Nature teaches us that our work has to be nuanced and steadfast. And more than anything, that we need each other—at our highest natural glory—in order to get free.” -adrienne maree brown

Inside Ourselves

The path to liberation starts by knowing oneself and being clear about what it means to show up in the world as a thriving human being. The more we show the world who we are, what we believe, how we love, we become disentangled with the false promise that there is something out there in the world we have to be in order to have value. We learn that all we need is inside ourselves. -JeKaren Olaoya (CLF)
